The day after Christmas is marked as a day of the year when the biggest pile of trash is created. In many cases this results in big loads being hauled to the landfill. What can you do this year to make that trash pile smaller? Get creative. Recycle, Reduce, Reuse. Post your suggestions by adding to the list below. The three entries judged to be the most creative will receive an energy conservation kits. Winners will be selected January 18.
Save large pieces of wrapping paper to reuse next year.
Save bows to reuse.
Present the gift without extra wrappings.

Stuff gifts into large re-usable stockings. It is just as much fun to dig gifts out of the stocking as it is to open each gift, but without the waste!
Also, before the holiday, send ecards rather than paper cards. It saves paper waste, time, and money!
Good idea, Valerie! I'm glad to see that Glennie is still posting good information and that some of you county employees are continuing to read the blog.
